Adverb Activities

I’ve created some adverb activities for my ESL students over the years, and I found them to work just as well with 5th and 6th graders who are learning parts of speech.  Following the suggestions below, click on the links to the activities.

Don’t forget to change the spelling when adding -ly to an adjective.

Remember, just because an adverb ends with an -ly, it doesn’t necessarily make it an adverb.

So, you don’t want to hear the song again?  That’s OK.  It basically says that adverbs are words that modify verbs, adjectives, or adverbs.  Adverbs deal with where, when, how, condition, reason, time, place, comparison, and contrast.

Adverbs are absolutely, positively, very, very necessary!
